The Ann Arbor Public Schools Educational Foundation is proud of the teachers in our schools. We are always so impressed by the creativity and innovation found in the requests for grants. The Foundation looks forward to our ongoing support of these grants into the future. The 2009-2010 grant application is available to download.

In addition to grants by the Ann Arbor Public Schools Educational Foundation, other organizations provide grants to teachers. Please visit these sites for more information:

Green Grants to Educators: Public school educators are eligible to apply for individual grants worth up to $5,000 for the development and implementation of ideas, techniques, and approaches for teaching “green” concepts. Deadline is October 15, 2010.

The Donald Samull Classroom Herb Garden Grant: The Herb Society of America, as a recipient of a bequest from the estate of Donald Samull, has established two herb garden grants for teachers in grades 3 through 6. Mr. Samull was an elementary school teacher who used his love of herbs in the classroom with his 3rd-6th grade students. These grants will ensure that his tradition of using herbs with students will continue for years to come. Deadline is November 1, 2010.

Fund for Teachers:  Fund for Teachers enriches the personal and professional growth of teachers by recognizing and supporting them as they identify and pursue opportunities around the globe that will have the greatest impact on their practice, the academic lives of their students and on their school communities.

Kids in Need Foundation Accepting Applications for Teacher Grants.  All certified K-12 teachers in the U.S. are eligible. Applications are judged on the basis of innovativeness and merit, clarity of objectives, replication feasibility, suitability of evaluation methods, and cost effectiveness.

Grant awards range from $100 to $500 and must be used to finance creative classroom projects. Typically, two hundred and three hundred grants are awarded each year.  Deadline is September 30, 2010.

Toshiba America Foundation grants for Grades K - 5. The Grants Program for K-5 Science and Math Education provides grants of up to $1,000 to teachers in public or private schools in order to improve the teacher's science and math teaching units. The application deadline is October 1, annually.

Toshiba America Foundation grants for Grades 6 - 12. The Grants Program for 6-12 Science and Math Education provides small grants of up to $5,000 and large grants of over $5,000 to teachers who are passionate about making science and mathematics more engaging for their students. Applications for small grants may be submitted throughout the year. The upcoming application deadline for large grant applications is August 2, 2010.

National Education Association Invites Grant Applications From K-12 Teachers for Environmental Education ProjectsThe National Education Association is offering Green Across America grants of up to $1,000 each to help K-12 teachers across the United States implement their innovative education program, activity, lesson, or event to increase environmental awareness, create positive learning programs, and excite students about ways to create a better planet.

The program will award a total of $50,000, in grants of up to $1,000 each. Deadline July 30, 2010.

HP Catalyst Initiative Invites Applications for STEM Education Consortia - the HP Catalyst Initiative seeks to build a global network of consortia to develop more effective approaches to science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education.

Dollar General Literacy Foundation Grants - Youth Literacy Grants. Deadline not yet posted.

Motorola Foundation Commits $7.5 Million for STEM Programs - Grants of up to $500,000.  Deadlines vary.

Siemens We Can Change the World Challenge Invites Students and Teachers to Address Environmental Issues.  Grades K - 8.  Deadline varies.

Louis Calder Foundation Invites Letters of Inquiry for Core Curriculum Education Programs, Grades K-8.  Deadline varies.

Lexus and Scholarship Announce Launch of Environmental Challenge Education Program.  For middle and high school students and teacher-advisor working to address an environmental issue.  Deadline varies.

You can participate in our automatic payroll deduction program and donate funds directly to the Ann Arbor Public Schools Educational Foundation.
