The Lisa Ann Gallagher Memorial Scholarship was set up by family and friends of Lisa, a 1978 graduate of Huron High School.  She participated in school activities, committees and sports, and was the 1977 Homecoming queen.  Lisa attended Michigan State University and graduated in 1982 with a Business and General Engineering degree.  Between her Junior and Senior years she participated in studies abroad for a semester in London and then traveled in Europe that summer.  She married and started her career in business and technology, and was a mother to three children. Lisa was adventurous and a leader.  Her activities were running, climbing Mt. Whitney and Mt. Rainier and competitive skydiving.  Lisa’s career grew quickly and she became a Senior Vice President of the net market division of a Fortune 500 company.  She encouraged her children to be as passionate about life as she was, remain positive and step up to challenges.  Lisa died in an accident August 26, 2001 at the age of 41.

This award is given to a female graduating senior from Huron High School who plans to attend college, has a GPA of 3.2 or above, participates in school and community activities, participates in sports, and needs financial assistance to attend college.

Eligibility:

      • A graduating female Huron High School student who will be attending college or university.
      • Must have participated in school, community, and sports activities.
      • Must have a GPA of 3.2 or greater.
      • Demonstrate financial need.

Application Process:

      • Application can be obtained using the link below.
      • Completed application form and required documents listed on the application should be submitted to scholarships@aapsef.org.
      • Final selection of the recipient will be made by members of the Gallagher. family and the Ann Arbor Educational Foundation Scholarship Committee.

Award Amount:

      • One at $1,000.00

The award will be announced at a HHS ceremony. A certificate and letter of congratulations will be provided by Educational Foundation prior to the date specified by the Huron Counseling office. If there is no award ceremony, award packet will be sent directly to recipient.

Upon receipt of Confirmation of Enrollment (which needs to include the Student ID number and the mailing address of the Financial Aid Office of the recipient’s selected college or university) AAEF will forward the scholarship check directly to the Financial Aid Office. Confirmation of Enrollment should be emailed to scholarships@aapsef.org no later than July 15.

Deadline:  Applications must be submitted to the Ann Arbor Educational Foundation by April 15, no later than 5pm
