STEM Book Infusion

2015 Teacher Grant

Recipient: Margaret Rohde, Pittsfield Elementary

Amount Received: $1,500

The Pittsfield Elementary library is a wonderful space, but the collection is sorely in need of updating, particularly in the areas of STEM fields. This grant  replaced many of the outdated and damaged books in the library with newly published appealing ones in the following subjects:

* computer programming
* political science
* social issues and services
* education
* communications
* astronomy
* transportation
* life sciences & biology
* medical sciences
* geography, maps and atlases

Impact Measurement: Using iMovie on the iPads in our students’ classrooms, students will create book trailers to share books with one another, as well as writing book reviews on the web site bookopolis.org. Impact will be measured in circulation statistics and students’ enthusiasm in their book trailers.
